The Historic New Orleans Collection subscribes to a number of third party blacklist services, these include but are not limited to:

  • Spamhaus.org

  • Sorbs.net

  • Spamcop.net

We subscribe to these services as one of many tools to help us limit the amount of SPAM and other e-mail containing nefarious material sent by disreputable mail servers.  While we cannot completely eliminate all aberrant e-mail, subscribing to these services helps to reduce the amount we do receive.  Additionally, since this is a third-party service, we have no control over who does or does not appear on the list.

If you have attempted to e-mail an employee here at The Historic New Orleans Collection and have received a bounce-back message stating that your e-mail did not arrive at your intended destination, you should check with your System Administrator or your Internet Service Provider to find out if your mail server is contained within a blacklist database.  If you know the ip address of your mail server you can do a lookup at http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx.  You should receive a bounce-back message from your Internet Service Provider or the Postmaster where your e-mail account resides when your correspondence is unsuccessful.  This however is not always the case.  If you have tried to communicate with an employee at The Historic New Orleans Collection and have not received a response or a bounce-back please give us a call at (504) 523-4662 and ask to speak to your correspondent to confirm that your e-mail was not received.

NOTE:  The mail servers of AOL, Yahoo and Bellsouth/AT&T are known to be listed in the blacklist databases.  We suggest using e-mail from your workplace or opening an account with another e-mail service provider when communicating with The Historic New Orleans Collection.
