On Wednesday, August 14, you and your family are invited to experience HNOC in a new way, featuring live music and free Italian Ice from Angelo Brocato for the first 100 guests! The Café and Shop will also remain open as you explore our current exhibitions: Unknown Sitters, A Vanishing Bounty: Louisiana's Coastal Environment and Culture, and Captive State: Louisiana and the Making of Mass Incarceration. Admission is free with RSVP.
Additional Activities
Pop-up Talk: "La Beauté Souvent est Volage: Creole Fashion in Early Louisiana"
Throughout the evening, join us for a pop-up talk in our Unknown Sitters exhibition about the ways Creole people in colonial and early-American Louisiana used fashion to forge and sustain their new and unique identity, reflecting how fashion is used by all of us to express who we are.
Paper Doll-Making
Families are invited to create their own paper dolls based on the historical fashions discussed during our Unknown Sitters pop up talk. These fashions will also be included in a paper doll coloring sheet so kids can explore all of these fashions too!
