In 1816, François Seignouret commissioned a large new building on Royal Street to house his growing furniture and wine businesses. As The Historic New Orleans Collection grows into that building 200 years later, curator Lydia Blackmore will look back at the business and craftsmanship of one of New Orleans’s best-known furniture makers and ponder the legacy of the “Seignouret Chair.”
