On the occasion of the film’s 60th anniversary, The Historic New Orleans Collection will present a screening of Anthony Quinn’s New Orleans-set The Buccaneer (1958), starring Yul Brynner and Charlton Heston. The program will take place on Wednesday, September 19, at THNOC’s Williams Research Center, 410 Chartres Street.
The Buccaneer is a historical drama that follows the swashbuckling privateer Jean Laffite as he helps Andrew Jackson win the Battle of New Orleans. Partially set and filmed at Shadows-on-the-Teche plantation in New Iberia and around New Orleans, the movie premiered here on December 9, 1958.
