The popular Carnival-themed tour of The Historic New Orleans Collection's Louisiana History Galleries continues through February 24. "Rites, Rituals, and Revelry: The History of Mardi Gras in New Orleans" follows the city's carnival traditions, beginning with celebrations during the French and Spanish colonial periods and in the early days of statehood. Utilizing items from THNOC's permanent holdings, the guided tour will then continue through the development of parading krewes, like Comus and Rex, to the arrival of Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs and Mardi Gras Indians, and concludes with today's popular superkrewes.

Tours are available daily Tuesday–Sunday, through Friday, February 24, and begin promptly at 11 a.m. Admission is $5 or free for THNOC members. Tours last approximately one hour. Please note, THNOC will be closed February 25–28.
