The Historic New Orleans Collection

Book Proposal Guidelines

A stack of books with titles like Louisiana Lens, A Life in Jazz, Monumental, and Creole World. The books cover subjects related to Louisianas culture, art, and history. The spines are neatly aligned against a plain, white background.

As a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South, the Historic New Orleans Collection publishes works that reflect the scope of the institution’s holdings, complement its exhibition and programming schedule, and support its mission.

We publish well-researched historical works, new editions and translations of archival materials, biographies of visual artists and musicians, richly illustrated art volumes, and works of graphic history. We welcome submissions from writers. Please email proposals to our director of publications, or mail:
