The Williams Research Center maintains an incomparable library relating to the Battle of New Orleans, running the gamut from rare pamphlets and printed broadsides to the very latest scholarly and popular histories. This descriptive list, while not all-inclusive, will convey the scope and importance of our holdings. Many of the items listed here are part of the William C. Cook War of 1812 in the South CollectionOpens in new tab, which contains a wealth of original documents, artworks, and rare prints, including the largest extant collection of so-called “Coffin BroadsidesOpens in new tab” that vilified Jackson during his 1828 presidential campaign.

Scholarly and popular journals and magazines 

The Williams Research Center has full runs of relevant scholarly journals that shed light on the Battle of New Orleans and related characters and events. In particular, the Louisiana Historical Quarterly, Louisiana History, and the Journal of Southern History have treated diverse aspects of the battle. All are indexed. The Journal of the War of 1812 specializes in the broader subject, and is certainly worth a look.
