Loan Requests

Learn about how HNOC loans materials from its permanent collection to other museums and institutions.

The Historic New Orleans Collection will lend material from its permanent collection for specific periods of time to other private or public museums, and to historical or educational institutions for presentation to the public in temporary exhibitions, displays, or educational programs. HNOC reserves the right to decline loans which it deems not in the best interest of the material requested or of HNOC, to restrict the number of items permissible for any loan, to assess loan fees, assign couriers, and to recall material on loan at any time.

Applications should include a satisfactory, completed standard facility report and furnish full details, including accession numbers identifying the objects requested for loan. The application should include copies of the sections of the borrower’s emergency preparedness plan pertinent to items on loan.  

The intended duration of a prospective loan must be stated by the borrower at the time of the request; concurrent with this request, the borrower should discuss with HNOC’s professional staff any special exhibition considerations for conservation, matting, framing, or presentation of objects requested for loan.  

All outgoing loans must be approved by the Board of Directors.
