Curator Camp, formerly known as Museum Lab, is a week long summer program for teens who have always wanted to go behind the scenes at a museum. If you get excited by history, art, artifacts, or storytelling, then Curator Camp is for you! Through daily hands-on workshops, Curator Camp participants will be introduced to skills and ideas that bring history and museums to life.
- Explore HNOC's vast archives and learn about how objects are preserved and cared for
- Experience how museums acquire materials in a mock artifact auction
- Engage with real historic objects of your choice from HNOC's holdings
- Learn about how museum exhibitions are designed, prepared, and constructed
Beyond HNOC, Curator Camp participants will visit other museums in the French Quarter, including the Hermann-Grima House, New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, and Louisiana State Museum Cabildo and Presbytere, and enjoy a live jazz performance at the legendary Preservation Hall. Each day features something new to see, learn, and do. No experience is necessary: just bring your curiosity!
Tuition is $250 per participant and includes lunch and snacks. Is tuition a barrier? Please contact us below.
