WWL-TV: Celebrating 50 Years of the New Orleans Superdome

HNOC senior editor Nick Weldon joined “Great Day Louisiana” to explain the history and engineering mastery behind one of America’s most iconic football stadiums.
“You can’t tell the story of the Superdome or the Saints without naming Dave Dixon ... who was passionate about bringing pro football to the city of New Orleans . . . . [The NFL] hosted a few exhibition games at Tulane Stadium, and a couple of those games were wash outs. The NFL commissioner at the time told Dave that they couldn’t do a football team in New Orleans without a domed stadium. So that got the wheels turning.”
