WWNO’s “The Reading Life” Features Authors of HNOC’s Upcoming Bunny Matthews Book

“[The characters Vic and Nat’ly] were the anchor of a community. They’re inspired in part by the people that Bunny Matthews grew up around. He always felt a little bit like an outsider . . . I think he created these characters to reflect the real insiders that he never felt like he was one of. [Vic and Nat’ly] change through the years in look, appearance, and personality . . . They tried to get rich at the World’s Fair, got covered in oil during the BP oil spill, and had to evacuate during Katrina. [Bunny] moved them through New Orleans history.”
