Shortcut Talks: Bunny Hops

Self-portrait, 1980, ink and colored pencil on paper by Bunny Matthews.

Three gallery talks explore different angles of Bunny Matthews’s life and career, presented in conjuction with Bunny Matthews: His Life, Art, and Obsessions.

Our 30-minute Bunny Hops explore the work of local artist and writer Bunny Matthews from different angles, presented in conjunction withBunny Matthews: His Life, Art, and Obsessions.

In “Bunny’s Record Hop,” hear about Bunny’s complicated relationship with the local music scene as a critic, promoter, and designer. “Soul of the City” looks at the Ninth Ward through the cartoonist’s eyes, exploring why he viewed it as New Orleans’s most authentic neighborhood. And, in “Ain’t Dere No More,” we show how Bunny documented a changing city and its culture, reflecting on themes of loss, change, and nostalgia.
